My First Hockey Game

Experiencing a professional game, for the first time, is one of the most exciting experiences while young. When I was ten years old, I went to my first hockey game. I had been playing roller hockey at skate station, for a year before the game, so my dad decided that I should see a professional hockey game. He found a game on my birthday and we went down to Tampa bay to see the Tampa Bay Lightning play the Philadelphia Flyers, my dad’s hometown. The game was at 7:30 pm so we left Gainesville at around 3:00 pm. We arrived in Tampa at around 7pm and we discovered that the game has a lot of activities going on before the game. We went to get our seats at a little bit after we got there, our seats were on the first row behind the goalie net. As we were looking for something to eat in the stadium, we saw a store with Lightning jersey so my dad brought me one. We got back to our seats right as the game started, and then right of the back Philadelphia scored right in front of me. The score was one to zero and it was setting up to be a great game. At the end of the first period, the score was two to two. During the intermission my dad and I decided to look around the rink and see what they had in it. To our surprise, we discovered an Outback Steakhouse in the stadium and got a Blooming Onion. At the start of the second period Philadelphia scored within the first minute again. They scored again right after the first one too. Down by too the Tampa Bay fans started to cheer harder and harder for the Lighting to score and become wining. By the end of the second period they had done it and the score was four to four. This intermission I decided to stay in my seat and watch them clean the ice. I also found out that they had a game going on the ice. The game was that if you can make a shot from the midline although the person missed they still gave him something for trying. Then the Third period started and wasn’t as exciting as the first two because there were no goals. But, as I soon, found out if a game is tied then it goes into a shootout, which is very exciting. Philadelphia won the shootout decisively winning it three goals to none. Even though Tampa Bay lost I will never forget my first professional hockey game.
